Discover the Old Town on Foot
Our guided walking tours are the perfect way to explore the history and hidden corners of the Old Town. Led by knowledgeable local guides, each tour lasts about ninety minutes and covers roughly two kilometres at a gentle pace, with plenty of stops along the way. Tours run whatever the weather, so please dress appropriately and wear comfortable shoes.
Choose your tour
The Classic Tour introduces the main sights, including the market square, the old harbour and the cathedral. The Hidden History Tour takes smaller groups down quiet lanes to discover lesser-known stories and buildings, and is popular with visitors who have been to the town before. The Twilight Tour, which departs in the early evening, focuses on tales and legends and ends at a traditional inn, where a hot drink is included in the price. Children particularly enjoy the Twilight Tour.
Times and prices
The Classic Tour departs daily at 10.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m. The Hidden History Tour runs on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 11.00 a.m. The Twilight Tour operates only from May to September. Tickets cost £12 for adults and £6 for children under sixteen. Children under five go free. A family ticket for two adults and two children is available at £30. Groups of ten or more receive a discount; please contact us in advance to arrange this.
Booking
Booking is recommended, especially in the busy summer months, and can be done online or at the tourist information office in the market square. You may also simply turn up at the meeting point, which is beside the fountain in the market square, ten minutes before the tour begins, although we cannot guarantee a place for those who have not booked. Tours are limited to twenty people, except the Hidden History Tour, which takes no more than twelve.
Please note
Our tours involve walking on cobbled streets and climbing a number of steps, and are therefore not suitable for wheelchairs. If you have particular mobility needs, please contact us before booking so that we can advise you. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome on all tours except the Twilight Tour.
