Greenfield Public Library – A Guide for Members
Greenfield Public Library is free to join for anyone who lives, works or studies in the Greenfield area. To register, simply visit the library with proof of your name and address, such as a utility bill or bank statement. Your membership card will be issued the same day and can be used at all branches in the district.
Borrowing
Members may borrow up to twelve items at any one time, including books, audiobooks and films. Books may be kept for three weeks, while films must be returned within one week. If no one else has requested an item, you may renew it up to three times, either in person, by telephone or through our website. A small charge applies to films but not to books.
Returns and fines
Items can be returned to any branch, or placed in the outdoor return box when the library is closed. Please note that a fine is charged for each day an item is overdue. If you think you will be unable to return something on time, contact us to arrange a renewal before the due date, and no fine will be charged. Members with unpaid fines above a set amount will not be able to borrow further items until the balance is cleared.
Computers and printing
Free access to computers and the internet is available at every branch. Sessions last up to one hour and can be booked in advance at the desk or online. Printing is available at a small cost per page; black-and-white printing is cheaper than colour. Please ask a member of staff if you need help using the equipment.
Events
The library runs a full programme of free events, including a weekly story time for young children on Wednesday mornings, a monthly book club for adults, and occasional talks by visiting authors. A reading challenge is held every summer to encourage children to keep reading during the school holidays. Details of all events are posted on the noticeboard and updated on our website each month.
